Pricing
Price per E / C / MDistributor price units: E is per each, C is per 100, M is per 1,000. Wire is usually priced per M feet.
Wire price per ft ↔ mWire price per ft, per 100 ft (C), per 1,000 ft (M), per metre and per km.
List × multiplierNet price from list price. Discounts can be chained: "50/10" is 50% off, then 10% off that.
Margin ↔ markupMargin is profit as a % of the sell price; markup is profit as a % of cost. 25% margin = 33.3% markup.
Boxes & packsHow many packs to order for a quantity, and price per each ↔ per pack.
Wire coils & reelsCoils or reels needed to cover a run. Three wires pulled 200 ft is 600 ft of wire.
Wire & conduit
Electrical
kVA · kW · ampsTransformer, generator and UPS sizing. Three-phase uses line-to-line volts.
Voltage dropVoltage drop on a run, and the smallest wire that keeps it within your target.
Power factor correctionCapacitor kvar needed to raise a load's power factor, and what it does to kVA and current.
Transformer fault currentFull-load current and the maximum fault current at a transformer's secondary terminals, from kVA and nameplate impedance.
Motor speed & slipSynchronous speed from frequency and poles, slip from the nameplate speed, and the same motor on the other frequency.
Line ↔ neutral voltageThree-phase wye systems: line-to-neutral = line-to-line ÷ √3.
Ohm's lawEnter any two of volts, amps, ohms and watts to get the other two.
Energy costWhat a load costs to run, and what a retrofit saves.
Units
Fractions of an inchFractional inches ↔ decimal inches ↔ millimetres, for drill bits, punches and enclosure sizes.
LengthFeet, metres, inches and millimetres.
TemperatureConductor insulation and termination ratings are 60, 75 and 90 °C.
PowerHorsepower, kilowatts and BTU per hour (electric heat).
Light levelFoot-candles and lux.
TorqueLug and breaker termination torque.
WeightPounds and kilograms.
Metal priceCopper and aluminum prices per pound ↔ per kilogram, for surcharges.
Box fill volumeThe NEC uses cubic inches, the CEC uses millilitres.
Product data
UOM codesUnit as it appears in a supplier file or ERP (EA, ft, box, lbs…) to its UN/ECE Recommendation 20 code, as used in BMEcat, ETIM and e-invoicing.
Spec value → metric (ETIM)ETIM features take metric values. Type a spec as the supplier wrote it, with its unit, and get the metric value and unit code.
Price quantity → unit pricePrice files give a price for a price quantity of order units, and an order unit can hold several content units (a box of 100 connectors).
UOM mix-up checkCompare the same item's price from two sources. About 10×, 100× or 1000× apart almost always means one was loaded in the wrong UOM.
Packaging levelsEach → inner pack → case → pallet quantities, with GTIN-14s for the pack levels built from the item GTIN.
